PREVENT and CHANNEL
PREVENT is the multi-agency set of arrangements aimed at preventing individuals and groups from engaging in violent extremism.
The Channel Panel is the multi-agency mechanism that oversees and coordinates Prevent interventions in Somerset. The Panel has a statutory basis under the terms of the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015.

In November 2020 Act Early’s new website was launched to help families and the public spot the signs when a loved one is being led down a path towards hatred and extremism. The site is accompanied by a national advice line that provides direct access to Prevent specialists who are trained to guide people through the process of sharing concerns about a person at risk.
